Denver Comic Con has come to an end. In the next few days expect a write up and a podcast on the inaugural even for Denver, but in the mean time I give you the pictures that we managed to take. You can see some of them in the below slide show, and the rest in the gallery here.
It has come. Tomorrow the first ever Denver Comic Con starts. At 6:00 PM MT the geeks will descend upon the Colorado Convention center to see stars, play games, and spend money that was meant for bills and rent. So what is there really all to see? Well no promises on filling it all here, but I will try.
1) Gaming (of course this is first, this is a video game blog afterall).
Colorado Cutthroat Connection (C3) will have tournaments on site. There will also be card games such as Magic and Pokemon. And for you HeroClix fans check out page 14 of the program to see the schedule for game times.
2) Guests
For their first year Denver Comic Con has done a great job at getting top notch guests. They have Colin Ferguson (Jack Carter - Eureka), James Marsters (Spike - Buffy), Billy West (Fry, Farnsworth, Zoidberg - Futurama), and Aaron Douglas (Chief Petty Officer Galen Tyrol - Battlestar Galactica). This is only a VERY small list and does not include the super impressive list of comic book artists and voice actors.
3) Events
Costume contests, Manga Panels and signings, there are enough panels to keep you busy all weekend, and so many they actually spilled into the nearby hotel. Friend of site Angichan has two panels, one Saturday and one Sunday about Getting Started in Webcomics.
Now this, as I said, is by no means everything that is happening at the convention. There is so much to see. For more you can get the program guide at http://www.denvercomiccon.com/programming/, or to save them some bandwidth you can get it here as well.
Denver Comic Con has announced the newest event to go along with their inagular venture here in Denver, Rock Comic Con! Being held at the Hard Rock Cafe in Downtown Denver this is the official afterparty for Denver Comic Con. It is going to feature Paul and Storm, H2Awesome!, Random Battle, and The Gear. Proceeds made from the tickets ($12 advance from www.RockComicCon.com, or $15 at the door) go to support Comic Book Classroom an after-school program for kids that is so far in 8 Colorado area schools.
But wait, there is more! This event also includes LIVE art by Marvel and DC Comic artists, prices, costumes, and there will be special guests! How can you even think of passing this up? The press release will follow after the jump.
Today was Star Wars day. It was not really the day that Star Wars launched all those years ago, but geeks love their puns. Denver actually has a small celebration for this day at the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum. This year it included getting to sit in an X-Wing, foam lightsabers for kids to fight each other with, and a large number of costumes. Check the gallery for pictures of the event, or just watch the slide show.
Earlier in the week I said I would be doing a full list of all the guests that have been announced to appear at Denver Comic Con this June. Well here it is. I plan to try and update it as they announce new guests to the con, so stay tuned.
