Steam Anime Sale

Do you like anime? Do you like anime video games? Then good news! Steam is having a sale on both of them. You can get games such as "BlazBlue: Chronophantasma Extend", "RWBY Grimm "Eclipse", "Megadimension Neptunia VII" and many, many more. I never really realized how many anime games Steam has until I looked at this list. Then, thanks to a partnership with CrunchyRoll, you can also buy actual anime such as "The Testament of Sister New Devil", "Re:Zero", and "Free".  You still need to stream them, but you actually do own them.

You can see the full list here: http://store.steampowered.com/sale/anime-weekend-sale/

So what are you picking up?

Ghost in the Shell (2017) - Mission Success!

Ghost in the Shell (2017) - Mission Success!

"Ghost in the Shell" is kind of an anime staple with the original movie having been released over 20 years ago. It is quite the risk to take it on and make it live action. So first I want to give props to DreamWorks and Paramount (apparently there is quite the history on this film actually making it to theaters) for taking the risk. The resulting movie is literally a live action anime. The visuals presented in the movie are absolutely amazing. They bring the city to life in ways that felt super science-fictiony but still grounded in the realm of possibility ... eventually. The characters are also well done. The are the characters that we have know (assuming you have seen any "Ghost in the Shell" movies / show) each still have their unique traits that make them, them.

Denver Comic Con Guests! Oh the Guests!

Greetings geeks and nerds! Over the past few weeks there have been two big announcements as guests go for Denver Comic Con. And I was too busy playing WoW: Legion and Zelda to pay enough notice to my inbox to notice the announcements. Shame on me. But now that I am taking a break (as in I stepped away long enough to actually ready my email) I wanted to do my own announcement for both of the most recent guests. Why? Why not?

Carebear's Convention Self Care

Hi guys, Carebear here with a quick blog before Colorado Animefest’s second year gets off and running. As some of you may be aware I do occasional writing and recently decided to incorporate my two sides, “Geeky” Carebear and “Therapist” Carebear. For this blog I kind of wanted to focus on how I personally manage social anxiety. The last couple of days I have been feeling “off” and wasn’t quite sure why, I got plenty of sun at the zoo on Sunday, I’ve been trying to cut back on my caffeine intake, doing little things like putting on new makeup. But I still found myself wanting to curl up and cry not knowing why and then it dawned on me, I’m scared.

The Professional Gamer - March 13, 2017

Hi everyone! I've had a week away from home, which means that I've done very little in terms of gaming or anything else. All that I have to report is that I've played through the first zone of Call of the Wild and had a lot of fun doing it. I managed to find a lot of things that Crystal did not, which makes me feel pretty good. However, we received our Nintendo Switch while I was away, so I'm going to end up starting the game over anyways. That's alright though, being an hour or so in, I'm not going to feel too frustrated. The game is pretty and such a joy to play, that I'm going to enjoy every minute of the opening chapter again on my replay. Come back next week, when I've hopefully had time to play a little more. Have a great week, and game one!

The Professional Gamer - March 6, 2017

Hello readers! Welcome to Nintendo Switch launch weekend. I'm still waiting for my console to arrive, fingers crossed that it actually does. There was a bit of a mix up with our credit card to make the payment with, so, not sure that its going to go through. In light of that, we purchased a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Wii U. We are also horribly impatient people and could not wait a few more days to receive our Switch. Instead, Crystal has spent most of the day playing, and I've been watching her. The game is very big. Remarkably big. And the designers have done a very good job at rewarding players for exploring.

I haven't really done much else this week. I've had a long week, with a trip up to Badlands National Park and having to dedicate a lot of time to reading scientific papers in preparation for preparing a conference paper. That's all for now. Have a great week and game on!
