Hello friends! This weekend I've been at StarFest Denver (in general, ComicFest in particular). I've spent most of my free time this week watching anime. With a fair amount of time dedicated to running this week, and trying to get ready for the convention this weekend, the anime was about all that I had time for. Let's talk about the couple of shows that I've been watching.
Read MoreIn order to make up for last week's flurry of geeky activity, I had a week full of other business to do. For one thing, Tuesday night was occupied with attending the Colorado Caucuses and exercising my ability to direct the future leadership of our country. Then, I met up with my parents for dinner on Wednesday, and spent Thursday trying to learn how to design rockfall protection barriers. I've watched a few more episodes of Snow White with the Red Hair, and am really excited as I get closer to conclusion of this series.
So, that's really ended up being most of my week. Hopefully, I can find a little bit more time next week.
I've had a lot of fun this week and managed to spend some time doing all three of the activities that I used to assume I would do every week: reading, watching, and playing. Therefore, my article this week will be a bit longer than it have been for the past few weeks. And, as long as you enjoy my ramblings, that's good news for you. Read MoreHi everyone! I've just got a short post this week. I've got a major post on Colorado Anime Fest in the works, look for it on Wednesday. In other news, I borrowed Heir to the Empire from the library. After trying to read Shadows of the Empire, this was such a breath of fresh air. I mean, maybe its not classical literature, but the caliber of writing is phenomenally higher. I've also watched several more episodes of Snow White with the Red Hair and am rapidly approaching the first season finale.

Hello, readers! I’ve been at the inaugural Colorado Anime Fest. I’ll have a full article about my experience here a little later this week. Other than that, I’ve spent my time this week watching Snow White with the Red Hair, and flying around some more with my space truck. Also, since we are starting to get close to spring, I’ve started reading more gardening books, and have started some herbs to keep in pots in my house.
Snow White with the Red Hair is very enjoyable. I like seeing that the two lead characters, who maybe have some romantic interest in each other, also have plans and goals that do not simply revolve around the relationship. Without relying on the typical "love conquers all" trope, the creators are much more free to develop the characters as individuals.
My adventures in space trucking in Elite: Dangerous continue apace. I've been a bit more busy this week, especially with helping Crystal get ready for Colorado Anime Fest this weekend. So, I haven't moved much further towards my goals of a new ship, but my rare trading scheme still seems to be working well as a means of earning the needed capital.

Read MoreBBC America is reporting that Steven Moffat will step down as the lead writer and executive producer for Doctor Who. He will be replaced by Chris Chibnall, who is the creator of the series Broadchurch. Moffat's final season will air in Spring 2017 in the American market.
I've pretty much been over Moffat's run on Doctor Who since season 6, and just biding my time until he resigned (an inevitability of some sort) or said something inflammatory enough in an interview to get him fired (he has been known to say some shitty stuff). Overall, I'm looking forward to a time that I can actually enjoy Doctor Who again.
Star Wars, a good chunk of us love. And even those of you that don't have to admit you would love to have a lightsaber, assuming you don't cut off your own in limbs in the first 5 minutes of owning it. Well the folks at Google know that. And a as a result have created a new(ish) Chrome Experiment called "Lightsaber Escape".
Read MoreHello readers! I've had another great week out here. In spite of that, I don't feel like I have a lot to discuss with you all that is really new and interesting. I continued to work on my Traveller sector and finished reading The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage. I also watched the last 14 episodes of Season 6 of Adventure Time that was recently release to Hulu, and the "Log Date 7 15 2" of Steven Universe. Mostly, I seem to be finishing (in some sense at least) a lot of things this past week.
In terms of starting things, I've picked up a new book. Not anything that is likely to sound like a lot of fun to you my readers. The book is Ways to the West by Tim Sullivan, in which the author attempts to take a road trip through the American west without using a car. Along the way, he discusses our dependency (addiction even) to automobiles and the influence that has had on the cityscapes of the western United States. But, he's also looking at some changes that have come about in the past decade and how these my influence the future of design. Due to my exposure to various public works projects, I often take an interest in articles and books that discuss the future of our public infrastructure. Since most of the books that I have read previously seem to assume the types of urban densities more typical of the coastal and mid-west metropolises, Ways to the West offers a fresh perspective. Especially with regards to the lower density development that has been the norm in the western states. I'm a little less than a quarter into the book so far, and I'll have to dedicate some major time to it if I'm going to finish it before it is due back at the library, so wish me luck.
