This Weeks Geek - Streaming the Future

Netflix started it, they got people used to streaming their entertainment to their homes. Then OnLive and Gaikai started streaming video games to our homes. They require a decent-ish network connection (5 MBps for OnLive), but they allow you to play full games on lower ends devices (like a netbook). OnLive has it's own client that is used on Windows, OS X, Android, and iOS in order to run any game that they provide while Genkai currently runs within a browser. Right now the content that they provide comes from other developers. Now what sort of future does streaming have in video games?

Quantum Conundrum - PC Review

Everyone has a few strange family members. Your family is extra strange though. For one Grandma Quadwrangle used to always say to remember and use your dimensions. You had not freaking clue what she meant by this, but she seemed to say it a lot. Then there is your uncle, Professor Fitz Quadwrangle. Your mother drops you off at his house every so often and he also greets you with whatever his newest invention may be. In the past these have been jet packs and freeze rays. This time you arrive and the power goes out. Once emergency power comes back up he is able to see and talk to you, but does not remember how he go where he is. Now it is up to you to restore power to the mansion with your uncle’s help.

Mass Effect 3 - Your Endings are Here

Gamers have whined and complained, and now it has paid off. The extended endings for Mass Effect 3 are officially here. Pop open your copy of Mass Effect 3 and download the most recent DLC. Once downloaded you can access the new endings in one of two ways.

E3 Day 2 & 3- The Pictures

So we are done with E3 Day 2, but have no time to write. As I speak we prepare to delve past a number of police blockades and LA Kings fans to reach the Nokia Theatre for Video Games Live. I do provide you though with the images we gathered from the show today. May they tide you over until we can start write ups on what we have seen this year.

Edit: So it appears I was again, not trigger happy for Day 3 of E3. As a result I combined Day 2 and Day 3 into one album at this location.

E3 Day 1

Ok, we have been to E3, and honestly have not seen as much as we normally do by now. Now this does not mean we have not been busy though. We have write ups on three different games and the Nintendo Press conference. Follow the links below to get to them.

Nintendo Press Conference 6/5/12

Nintendo came locked and loaded to show off an array of new Wii U titles, as well as a few 3DS titles, for gamers everywhere.  I will admit, last year, I was weary of the Wii U and the Wii U gamepad.  Well, after getting to go to the press conference, I am now extremely excited about the Wii U and the new options the Wii U gamepad gives gamers everywhere.  Below you will find a list of some of the games that Nintendo showcased at their conference and a couple of bullet points for each title... Oh, and Zombi U looks awesome and my inner child totally wants to play Lego City Undercover.  Good job Nintendo, you now have me excited about the Wii U and looking forward to check them out on the E3 floor this week.

E3 - Press Conference Viewings

E3 is a little under 2 weeks away at this point, and with it comes a number of press conferences from the leaders in the video game industry. Too bad many of us (yours truly included) don't get to actually attend these conferences.  So how will we watch them instead? Well many companies will either live stream the conference themselves or have partnered with a cable channel to do it (such as G4 or Spike TV).  As I find / get links for the streams I will place them in this post, which will be moved to the top of the site each time I update it.

Xbox - June 4 @ 9:00 AM PT

Ubisoft - June 4 @ 3:00 PM PT

Playstation - June 4 @ 5:30 PM PT Preview, 6:00 PM PT Press Conference

EA - June 4 @ 1:00 PM PT

Nintendo - June 5 @ 9:00 AM PT
Edit - The Gameslave crew gets to attend and cover the Nintendo Press Conference.

Colorado Cutthroat Tournament - Pre Denver Comic Con

Over the weekend Colorado Cutthroat has put on a tournament at the Microsoft store in the Park Meadows mall as a pre-game celebration for Denver Comic Con. Unfortunately I was unable to stay for the whole tournament, but that did not stop me from taking a few pictures. The games that they had in tournament form were Soul Calibur V, Marvel vs Capcom 3, and Tekken X Street Fighter.  The play area had the primary tournament was on the big screen in the store and they had several other game stations set up for people not in the tournament to play. Based on how this was setup, we have a lot to look forward to at their Denver Comic Con showing.
