The Professional Gamer - November 6, 2017

Hi readers! It's been another fun week in the world of seasonal anime. I didn't find any time to play video games this week because I spent most of the week assembling IKEA furniture. Our collection of books and DVD's have grown to such a point that my old shelves could no longer contain them. I'm now the proud owner of 4 full-sized and 2 narrow Billy bookcases. Everything looks a lot more organized now, and its a lot easier for me to find comics to read. On that note, let's talk about what I've been doing this week. Spoilers ahead!

The latest episode of The Ancient Magus' Bride, "Everything Must Have a Beginning", was a more challenging episode to watch. For those who don't know me that well, I am, generally speaking, and animal lover, but there is a special spot in my heart for cats. Then, I watched this episode, which included a significant amount of violence against cats. Fortunately, that scene didn't last very long and the rest of the episode is very interesting. Though, I did have a bit of a feeling that the pacing might have been stretched out to fill the standard time block. And we were left on a bit of a cliffhanger, so I'm looking forward to the resolution that I'm hoping will come in the episode this weekend.

Food Wars is taking a turn that I'm not very excited about. I suppose that we are due up for another TOURNEMENT ARC!!! but I much prefer the friendly competition as I discussed in my article last week. Since we have only had a small introduction to the arc, I'll hold back the full fury of my judgement, but this show is on notice.

Meanwhile, Recovery of an MMO Junkie is going great. The plot is a bit predictable, but it is a delight to watch these characters get to know each other both online and in real life. I'm still excited to see where this series goes.

I had a little bit of spare time and read Baggywrinkles by Lucy Bellwood. I've allowed this to sit on my shelf for more than a year before actually reading it, but I think that has actually been good for me. I spent most of that time reading in depth, journalistic comics (especially from The Nib) and really growing to love that genre of work. And now I'm reading through stories about working on a tall-ship, and my mind is suitably prepared. My only complaint is that the book is too short. I want to learn so much more about sailing, specifically from Bellwood's perspective. I hope to see more sailing comics from her in the future, because these were great.
