The SNES Classic and Should I Care?

A few days Nintendo announced, unsurprisingly, that they would be releasing an SNES Classic system in a similar vein to the NES Classic. The new mini-console will include 21 games including Star Fox 2, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario World, and Earth Bound. The system will also include 2 SNES controllers for a price of $80. The system is set to release this September and will run through 2017. That is all very nice, but should we really care?

There is an old saying, once bit twice shy. Last year Nintendo released the NES Classic to massive success. The system sold like nobodies business, and there was not enough stock for everyone to get one. That was fine, I said to myself. I will get one when things slow down a bit. But that never happened, and then they stopped  selling the NES Classic all together. If I want an NES Classic now I would have to pay some jackass that bought it just to resell it at least $200. Over triple the original price. Sure, Nintendo has said they will provide more stock this time (Source: Time), but I won't really believe it until I see it. Nintendo has been notorious for not keeping up with demand for hardware items. Almost every console they have released has been in short supply for months after release. Amiibos are released in limited quantities for months at a time. Heck, it was hard to get a pro-controllers for the switch at launch. A CONTROLLER! That was not even the actual console, just an accessory! Do I want an SNES Classic? Yes I do. Will I stress myself out over finding one? No I will not. If I miss the boat on this one then so be it. I can get the games on the virtual store later anyway.
