The Professional Gamer - August 3, 2018

Hello readers, and welcome to another week of the Professional Gamer. This week, I found some time  to hand out in Final Fantasy and I spent the time and money required to catch up on on of my favorite cartoons. 

I'm not going to go into depth about FF14 at this point. I've talked about it before, and I'm still having fun with it. As Final Fantasy plots go, this one doesn't feel too weird or trope filled. I feel like there are a lot of characters being used in the cut scenes. I'm an old forgetful gamer, so I'm sure I'll forget who half of them are before too long. At least in this modern era I can look those characters up online and find out why I should hate/love them. My biggest complaint is that I spend a lot of time running between places, especially while working on the main storyline quests. There is just so much "go to this remote area, kill a bad dude, then turn the quest in to someone back at the main city". I feel like this could have been better designed. On the other hand, playing as a pugilist is a lot of fun. And I love that I have the option to change my class whenever I want. I still haven't paid for the full version of them game. At this point, I'm going to wait until I hit the free-to-play level cap, and then put some money down on the game.

Speaking of money, I finally put some cash on the table and bought the most recent season of Steven Universe. This was definitely money well spent. At this point, I'm not sure how I made it so far without major spoilers, but I did. Since I know there are some folks who want to wait for the newest episodes to be available on Hulu, I'll keep this post spoiler free. In broad terms, I love the character development that has taken place over the last few episodes. There are a lot of plot threads that were set up a long time and just now are paying off. I binged through all the episodes the day I bought them, and am now in the process of a second viewing with a friend. It's cool to see some of the little hints about the major spoilers that are planted through this latest season.
