E3 Pictures

So another E3 has come and gone.  The Gameslave crew was on the floor covering what we could (apparently we are not big enough for media passes yet). In the next few days we will have a full write up of our thoughts and opinions about the show, including things such as WiiU (WTF).  In the mean time we have the photos up for the week in the Photos area.  So go ahead and take a look, we have them split in Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Release Date

I'm at Gamestop yesterday getting a game for my wife and they had a sheet of release dates on the counter.  Conveniently it was opened to the page with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and a release date of 11/02/2011. Of course I had to ask if this was a Gamestop estimated date or an actual release date, with the answer being an actual release date.  The employee even went as far to show me what the date would have been in Gamestop estimated it.  So there you have it.  We should be able to expect the most recent version of Zelda out for this holiday season, but what else does that mean?  Well unless Nintendo is doing a record release time for an announcement of a new gaming console, this game will not be on the Project Cafe system.  It also means that Nintendo actually has something worth buying this holiday season.  WOOHOO!

E3 in Less then a Week

So E3 is next week, and I really have not said much about it.  Some of you may think this means that I am not excited about it.  That is a lie, in truth I cannot wait for the biggest gaming convention in the states. In preparation for this people have asked me what I am looking forward to this year. My normal answer to this is everything, but giving it some thought I do have a small list.

Nintendo DS Lite Price and Mario Packages

The Nintendo DS Lite, despite being now at least two iterations behind, is getting a price drop.  The system priced formally around $129.99 will have the MSRP dropped to $99.99 as of June 5. So just in case you missed getting a DS Lite when it came out in September of 2009 you can now get it for a reduced prince, if you can find it.

Now for the more relevant part of this entry. Six Mario games are going to get custom red packaging to make them easier to spot for consumers.  New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart DS, Super Mario 64 DS, Mario Party DS, Mario and Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story, and Mario vs. Donky Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem will all have special red packaging.  The plan on this is to make the games stand out a bit more then they already do, seeing as they say Mario on them and have Mario's picture. But these are supposed to also mark fan favorites based on sales, so it works.

Zelda Universe?

So apparently this is kind of old, but I had not heard it before so I felt that the rest of you deserved to see this as well.  If you go to ESRB.com and search for Zelda you will find 19 results. Most of these are listed under Nintendo game systems, except for two.  One of these is the much forgotten (on purpose) Zelda's Adventure on the CDI done by Philips (don't ask). The other is called Zelda Universe and it set for online. That is right, apparently a Zelda game was in the works to be online. Now the thing that makes this odder is that apparently this is a 3 year old posting.  Gamespot found a link that shows this same post from the ESRB all the way back in 2008. So why have we never heard anything on this? I guess the folks at Nintendo are the only ones that can answer this for us. So Nintendo, are we looking at a MMO in the Zelda Universe, a co-op over the net game on the new system, or something that we have not even contemplated yet?

Portal 2 Music

Yes, I have done many Portal 2 posts, and I make no apologies. Todays post gives you free things, so I think you will accept it as well. Valve has been kind enough to release some of the music from Portal 2 for the low price of nothing.  So head on over to grab Portal 2 Soundtrack: Volume 1 and download it for your own listening pleasure.

The Standard Repository for all Knowledge and Wisdom Coming Soon

So today is known as Towel Day, in honor of Douglas Adams and his book Hitchikers Guide to Galaxy. So what we have in honor of this game is an annoucement from Hot Head games.  They have recently partnered with Megadodo Publications to bring their book to our primitive portion of the galaxy.  So soon we will be able to keep ourselves up to date on what all the hoopiest froods are doing from this mostly harmless planet (until it is demolished for a freeway).  Check out the the full press release below along with a link to the site that will be keeping us up to date on this.

Australians may soon get "Mature" games

The great land down under.  Many times it has been refused the games they so rightly deserved.  They have either been watered down or not released at all.  Well soon they may be getting a path to gaming salvation, a path to the true game.  Or at least that is what they hope.  A R18+ guideline has been proposed to the the Australian government that will allow more adult friendly titles.

The new R18+ would allow "virtually" no limits. In the old R15+ (at least according to the draft) sex was limited to implied but could not be a reward, nudity could not be a reward, drug use has to be justified by the context of the game, and violence had to be justified while strong violence could not be shown very frequently.  In the draft of the R18+ violence "is permitted except where it offends against the standards of morality, decency and propriety generally accepted by reasonable adults to the extent that it should not be classified." Sex may be a realistic simulation (not real), nudity is allowed (period) and drug use is allowed (period).  If you are interested in this hit the source link for the PDF that has the guidelines.

The Beast is Coming

inFAMOUS was (in my opinion) a good game with a great story.  The ending was actually a surprise that I did not see coming. So when I saw this trailer that was posted I had to show it here.  If you want zero spoilers for inFAMOUS 2 I would advise not watching the video as it shows information about the beginning of the game. But if you don't mind a little go ahead and watch.
