Review - The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot

In most games you play a hero adventuring for a great purpose. Your aim is to save a city, a people, or a world. That is not that case in “The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot”. In this free-to-play game from Ubisoft you are a newly arrived resident of the floating city of Opulencia. Here everyone has fortress like castles filled with monsters and traps that protect gold and life force. Your quest is to infiltrate these castles, kill the monsters guarding it, and take the treasure for yourself. Once a few castles have been relieved of their treasure then you get to build your own castle to protect your treasure. But does this formula of loot, level, build work?

Will you embark on a Mighty Quest for Epic Loot?

At the 2013 E3 Ubisoft showed off The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot in which you storm other player's castles to gain loot and build your own castle with traps and monsters.

In the beta you have the option to play one of four characters. You have Sir Painhammer the boastful Knight, Blackeye Bogart the enigmatic Archer, The Earl of Evilosity (a Mage), and The Runaway who rocks her axe like none other. Each has their own pros and cons for getting past the cruel defenses that other players will have setup to protect their treasure.

The Order: 1886 - Trailer

At the E3 2013 Sony Press conference there was a trailer that showed, what I believe to have been, werewolves attacking an armed carriage. Well I have not seen much since then, and today I notice there is a new trailer. It talks about the The Orders' age (a bit) and its long standing mission. It talks about the new world and challenges it finds itself it. I could go on, but why? Here is the trailer. Enjoy.

inFAMOUS Second Son - Neon Preview

So I am a big can of the inFAMOUS games, and as such I feel that I have been neglecting news on Second Son.  It comes out in just under a month for the PS4. And we have mostly seen the cool smoke / fire powers that our protagonist, Delsin Rowe, has. But what is a good inFAMOUS game without options. And with that in mind they have provided us the Neon power. And it looks amazing.

Titanfall - The Beta / Demo

Titanfall, the big new game coming from Respawn Entertainment and published by EA, is coming out for Xbox One and PC March 11, and it actually seems to be worth our time. You have probably seen your fair share of Titanfall by now, but just in case you have not, or only seen the super clean trailers here is what it is like to have a Titan actually fall from orbit.

Review - Need for Speed Rivals

Review - Need for Speed Rivals

Do you feel the need? The need for speed? OK, I have that out of my system, lets move on. This season EA released the next iteration in the Need for Speed series, Need for Speed Rivals. Your canvas is the majestic Redview County, which is remarkable diverse. There are snow capped mountains, twisting passes, seaside villages, freeways that are under construction and a desert / canyon. This gives you a great diversity of areas to drive, each with it's own pros and cons. Will you stick to the twisting roads and out maneuver your rival? Or will you go for the long straightaways and out run them?

Review - The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

As kids a number of us played "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past" (ALP) for the SNES. Many people (ZeldaQueen included) believe this to be the best of the Zelda games. Now, 22 years later and 1 day later, a direct sequel, or as direct as a Zelda sequel gets, has been released for the 3DS. Hyrule as we remember it from "A Link to the Past" is back almost exactly as we remember it. But does the new game have the same level of fun that the old game did?

The Past Returns

All the way back in the year 2003 I took a sociology class. In this class we were assigned a paper where we had to write about how a class of people is viewed in society. I, being the person I am, wanted video games to be my research material. The paper was written, submitted and graded (got an A on it by the way), and then lost, or so I thought. I was rather sad about this as I also met my wife in the class I wrote this paper in. Well recently, when doing some clean up of old hard drives, I found the original paper. So here I give you, the readers of The Gameslave, my sociology paper titled "Woman's Role in Entertainment: Does Time Matter".

DayZ goes Live

Fans of the popular Arma2 mod DayZ will be thrilled to hear that Day Z is officially geting its own game. Bohemia has been the green light on Steam to start selling a stand alone version of the popular game. The game is now available for $29.99 in an early access format. What does early access mean exactly? The simplest way to say it is that the game is in alpha. For thise that may not know, most early adopters find games in a nearly finished beta form where they are tweaking minor gameply elements. Alpha gameplay typically means there are major bugs in the game still and it requires a lot of testing before release. The advantage though is you get to really see the game evolve during it's development.

If you are ready to dive in then head to the DayZ Steam page and make your purchase.
