The Best New Character might be an underrated category that doesn’t get the attention it deserves. When you’re playing video games, you want to be able to connect with the characters you are playing as, either in a positive or negative light. After all, you will be investing a good amount of your time in some of these games.
The Gameslave Award for the Best New Character goes to John Marston, Red Dead Redemption (Xbox 360, PS3). This choice was a rather simple one. John Marston just had that personality that you immediately fell in love with. What helps create a relationship with John Marston is the voice acting. Rob Wiethoff, the actor who voiced John Marston, did a phenomenal job. His rough and gritty voice was spot on and gave you the impression that this character was really from the Wild West. If you haven’t played Red Dead Redemption, do yourself a favor and either play a couple of hours of it or watch someone play it. You will realize how great a personality John Marston is.
