Xbox One Will Not Include A Headset
/
When Microsoft came clean about their DRM polices two weeks ago, people were outraged. Many fans of the popular Xbox 360 threatened to switch over to the PlayStation 4 because of the Xbox One announcements. Now, go forward a week or so and due to all the backlash from customers and the media, Microsoft has done a complete 180° on their DRM polices. They are now the same as the PlayStation 4 in that you can play used games and trade in your games to third party stores like Amazon, GameStop and BestBuy. Now that the Xbox One is on the same level (DRM Policies) wise, fans seem to be happier and not so remorseful or reluctant about getting the Xbox One. Then Microsoft announced that their new next generation console would not ship with a Headset. Wait… What???
Yes it is true Microsoft strikes again. No headset will be included in the box for the Xbox One. The launch will include the console and the new Kinect (which can be used for game chat functionality). The Xbox One Headset (pictured above) will probably not be cheap. I'm predicting it will cost roughly $30 due to Microsoft's claims that it will have new technology for better talking and sound quality. This is really hard to swallow due to the fact the console alone already costs $100 dollars more due to the Kinect shipping at launch. Reports indicate though that Turtle Beach will be releasing a gaming headset on launch that will be compatible with Xbox One. Now if you are like me and prefer gaming headsets rather than the standard ones that Sony and Microsoft provide, then this is a good thing.
Here’s a statement from Microsoft:
"Xbox One does not include a pack-in headset accessory. Each Xbox One includes the new Kinect sensor, with a highly sensitive multi-array microphones designed to enable voice inputs and chat as a system-level capability, both in-game and with Skype and other experiences. For gamers who prefer a headset, we have a variety of offerings that you can find on the Xbox Wire."
Are you going to be purchasing a brand new headset for the Xbox One or will you just stay with the Kinect?
