Portal Videos!

Well what a week.  We have had two amazing portal videos on the span of a few days.  Lets start with the amazing live action one, shall we?

Cool Huh?  Lets hope that if Valve does a portal movie they look this guy up.  The portal effects were amazing and you get a real sense of how much of a b**tch GLaDOS is.

Second we have a video that is a few custom rooms.  It is truly amazing what a person can do when properly persuaded.  Make sure you watch the whole thing and don't jump around.  It loses the effect when you do that.

Did you watch the whole thing?

Good, she said yes by the way, so good going on this super geeky but awesome proposal!

Game Over - inFamous 2

New series I am going to try and do. This article will happen after I beat a game and will happen sometime after the review goes up. Due to the spoiler filled content of this section it will always happen after the jump. The section will include my thoughts on the end of games I play. This edition of Game Over is going to focus on the endings of inFamous 2. So if you too have beat it, or don't mind the spoilers, click the link and let me know if you agree if not.

Legend of Zelda Wallpaper

zelda1024x768.jpg

Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary wallpaperI'm glad to see that Skyward Sword has a solid release date now. I haven't been this excited for a Zelda title in awhile.  Possibly not since Ocarina of Time.  I've enjoyed the Zelda titles that have come out since then, but there is something about this new one that has me thinking about Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past, which is my favorite Zelda title.  To show my appreciation and love for the series I'm posting up for you, our readers, another wallpaper.  This one as you can guess by the title is in homage to the Legend of Zelda series.  Like the Mario wallpaper I was thinking about the items that just have that distinctive classic Zelda feel.  I've made most of the items harken to my favorite A Link to the Past, though you will find a couple of items that are found in other games.  It seems stranged to think that it's the 25th Anniversary of the series, considering I have been playing since the first installment.  Man it makes me feel old.  In any case I hope that everyone enjoys this wallpaper.  It took me a lot longer than the Mario one, but I think the effort was well worth it for the final result.  If you are liking these, let me know in the comments section and give me suggestions for a future wallpaper.   I might just draw up a suggestion I like!

Zelda: Skyward Sword Release Date

Curses, I was off by 18 days when we guessed the release date of the new Zelda game. But that is bound to happen even to the best of us. The release date for Zelda: Skyward Sword is officially set for November 20, 2011. So that means now I actually have time to play Skirim, even if it is only 8 days.

PS3 - Now Cheaper

Today Sony announced that the PlayStation 3 has been reduced in price to $249.99 (they also had similar price drops in Europe and Japan).  They did this seemingly out of the blue at Gamescom today. There were no lines like, "price drop in 2 weeks" or "we are going to drop the price but we are not saying to what".  The announcement came and was made effective today.  Is this the same Sony that could not keep the PSPGo a secret over a year ago?  But what does this mean to the poor sap that recently purchased a PlayStation 3?  That means if you want to save $50.00 you can return your recently purchased PlayStation 3 and get a new one at the new price.  But you will lose all your game saves you may have, and those can be more precious then life itself!

Thanks Amazon, cause that $0.99 was a real deal breaker for me.

Metroid Anniversary

First Mario, then Zelda, now it is Metroid's turn for their 25th anniversary. To start the celebration Nintendo is going to give away Metroid Fusion to curent owners of Nintendo 3DS systems. You have until 8/11 at 11:59 PM to get your game from the eShop, so no dawdeling.

EDIT: Change that, you have to sign into the eShop by 08/11 so you can be an ambassador and get the game for free when it become available.

GameFly Does PC Games?

GameFly is a great source for renting console games.  You spend about $15.95 a month and get one game out at a time, play your fill, then send it back and get a new one.  Sure you may have to wait for the more popular games, but it can be cheaper then buying every game.  Well now they plan to add on from consoles to both PC and Macintosh.  This holiday GameFly is setting up a new application that looks to include unlimited PC/Mac video game play as long as you subscribe.  This could quite potentially take a bite out of the OnLive market if they have more games available combined with the console game rentals then with the OnLive Play Pass has to offer.  If you are interested in trying it out you can sign up for the beta at http://www.gamefly.com/download-games/beta/.

Angry Birds - Why it all really started

Angry Birds, it is a story of Birds versus the Pigs that stole their eggs.  But is there more to it?  Is there a deeper connection than one minute the eggs are in the nest the in the next they are gone?  NO!  But the kidnapping was done in a much more evil fashion.  Below you will find a motion comic created to show the true beginning of the hatred the birds hold.

Zelda 25th Anniversary News

Many of you may know the fact that Nintendo is playing up the 25th anniversary of the Legend of Zelda. Well Nintendo has recently announced new online activities for this event.  You can go to the official 25th anniversary website at http://www.zelda.com/25th.  This site has a number of activities including an interactive history of The Legend of Zelda, the video of the orchestra from their E3 press conference playing music from series, and a contest to make a Zelda Flipnote using a DSi or DSi XL.  These along with paper flipnotes that are submitted by September 9th will be reviewed by the people that have worked on the Zelda series, including Shigeru Miyamoto, Takashi Tezuka, Eiji Aonuma and Yoshiaki Koizumi. After they have reviewed the notes, fans will be able to enjoy the posted flip notes on the anniversary site, on the Wii via the Nintendo Channel, and on DSi and DSi XL system with Flipnote Hatena.

But they don't stop there.  The Legend of Zelda Anniversary concert has 2 stops so far (Los Angeles and London).  Keeping my fingers crossed they make a stop at or near Denver, but with our history I am not holding my breath.  Then to top the cake, starting in September, owners of a DSi, DSi XL, or 3DS will be able to download The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords for free.  This is on top of the new Wii Zelda game coming out this year.  This all proves it is a great time to be a Zelda fan.
